Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world - home to 6% of the planet's species - this stable, safe and still affordable Central American democracy boasts dense rainforest, tropical beaches, unique cultural attractions and a growing number of luxury resorts. The coast of the Pacific Ocean is characterized by many headlands and peninsulas, gulfs, bays and white sand beaches, while the coast of the Caribbean Sea is low and straight. On the Pacific coast the oldest and most developed tourist destination is Jaco Beach. This broad, volcanic gray beach has great waves for bodysurfing. Close by is Manuel Antonio Park where you will find outstanding flora and fauna. Further to the north is Guanacoste, with wonderful waterfalls and beautiful beaches around.

Costa Rica is also known as a haven for some of the most lush, tropical golfing environments in the world. At any course, you can expect to an ensemble of exotic, indigenous animals; jungle; mountainous terrain; and surreal, blue ocean painting a brilliant experience. Yet despite this, there are only six regulation 18 hole golf courses in the entire country.

San José lies at an elevation of 1,160 m above sea level, and enjoys a stable climate throughout the year, with an average temperature of 23C and around 150 mm of rain per month. Officially, the city's current population is around 350,000, but the population of the total urbanized area is around 1.6 mill., which means that about a third of the whole population lives in San José. Among the numerous tourist attractions in and around San Jos's is it worth mentioning El Pueblo, a mix of more than 50 bars, clubs, restaurants, art galleries and shops. Lining the picturesque cobblestone streets within walking distance of several hotels and resorts, it is a lively place from 9 p.m. until dawn.

With consistently warm temperatures, Costa Rica is a year-round destination. However, the country has two distinct seasons: a dry season from December through April, and a wet "green" season from May through November. The dry season is the most popular time to visit, but the green season can be an ideal time to see lush vegetation and take advantage of lower prices.
