It is sometimes easy to forget about Central America, a narrow strip of land that connects North America with South America. None of of Central America's seven countries is an economic power, occasionally you might come across mention of Panama Canal or something tragic might happen in the region, but for the most part Central America glides by under the radar screen of the world media.

From massive archaeological ruins like Tikal in Guatemala and Copan in Honduras, to smaller yet equally mysterious sites like Tazumal in El Salvador and Xunantunich in Belize, the Mayan ruins of Central America are certain to linger in your memory.

Furthermore Central America is regarded as one of the worlds most beautiful regions for holidays and vacation.  Whether you are interested in beaches, diving, history, culture, nightlife or just relaxation there is something for everyone and for every budget in Central America.

The tourist infrastructure in the region varies from the well trodden path of eco tourists in Costa Rica to he difficult travel one finds in Honduras. Prices also vary, but on a global scale Central America is still cheap and a relatively easy region to visit.

Regular flights are available from the United States to Central Americas airports. Juan Santamaria airport in Costa Rica also gets flights from Europe (Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Madrid) and from several places in the USA. Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Nicaragua and Comalapa Airport in El Salvador also have many destinations.
