Acapulco HotelsAcapulco is famous for its endless sunshine, glorious golden sandy beaches, enormous hotel complexes, exciting nightclubs, lively bars, and La Quebrada's daring cliff divers. For a touch of history, head to the Old Acapulca district, which lies on the western side of the city. Other prominent districts include Acapulco Dorade, to the east of Playa Hornos, and the Diamante district, a modern, luxury resort on the southern outskirts. Most beaches are in the bay area fronting the main boulevard, La Costera. This bay area is what made Acapulco famous, and its beauty and majesty has not faded over the years. Some of the most popular beaches inside the Bay and lining La Costera are Hornos, Papagayo, Tamarindos and Icacos. Caleta/Caletilla beaches and Langosta Beach are on the open ocean, and usually a bit cleaner. Most hotels are found along La Costera, and prices generally go down as you move west toward the Zócalo and old Acapulco. Deep-sea fishing is popular with tourists visiting Acapulco and many enormous fish are often caught, including sailfish, mahi mahi, yellowfin tuna and marlin, which are at their most plentiful during the winter and spring months. For golfers there are good oportunities to play a round of golf. You will also find air-conditioned shopping centers, and quality Mexican dining. Acapulco - Alvarez International Airport (ACA) is about 23 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of the city and hotel zone. Map of Mexico
