Florida ranks third in flight passenger numbers among the US states handling more than 42 million air passengers each year.

The major international airports in Florida are: Orlando International (MCO), Miami International (MIA), Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood (FLL) and Tampa Airport (TPA). The secondary airports are South West Fort Myers, Palm Beach and Jacksonville Airport. Furthermore there are a number of regional airports. Florida airports have non-stop scheduled passenger service to over 160 U.S. cities, European and other international destinations. Now that crossing the Atlantic has become more and more affordable, the number of international flights to Orlando and Miami has increased dramatically over the last 15 years. 

 has two airports: Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International airport. MIA is closer to town (19 km/12 miles), and is among the busiest airports in the world with over 80 airlines serving MIA to some 150 destinations around the globe. Most major European airlines have non-stop services to Miami.

Orlando International Airport
is around 11 km (7 miles) southeast of downtown Orlando and also near to Belle Isle, Lake Nona, Lake Warren and Mud Lake. Orlando Airport is the premier gateway into the very heart of central Florida and many of tourist attractions including some of the best known theme parks. Orlando is connected to destinations all over the US and to many major European cities, it falls just outside of the world's busiest 20 airports.
